If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding water inside the tailgate, tailgate closing assist not working, load compartment cover not working, random triggering of alarm or turn signal confirmation absent when locking car, this may be due to water ingress past the rear wiper shaft grommet (Figure 1). The rear wiper shaft grommet may roll up due to insufficient lubrication or the grommet is damaged. As of the above VIN cut offs, an improved wiper shaft grommet has been installed. In the event of complaint, install the improved grommet. It is not necessary to remove the rear windshield as shown in Figure 1.

1. Remove wiper motor, refer to WIS document AR82.30-P-6900T.

2. With the wiper arm and wiper motor shaft removed as described in the above WIS document, it is now possible to remove and replace the grommet.

3. Reinstall wiper motor, refer to WIS document AR82.30-P-6900T.
