Replace center muffler
Remove
DANGER:
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes from handling hot or glowing objects.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
CAUTION: Read notes on self-locking nuts and bolts.
1 Raise vehicle.
2 Unscrew nut (11/7) and remove bracket (11/8)
3 Slacken clamps (9c) and dismount left rear muffler (9a) from center muffler (10)
4 Disconnect left and right flange connection (12a, 12b) of center muffler (10) at three way catalytic converters (158/1, 158/2)
5 Unhinge center muffler (10) with right rear muffler (9b) from exhaust rubber mounts (9/1, 9/2).
NOTE: Use lubricant.
6 Remove center muffler (10) with right rear muffler (9b)
Inspect
7 Check exhaust rubber mounts (9/1, 9/2) and sealing rings (21 a, 21 b) for wear and damage
Install
8 Hang right rear muffler (9b) with center muffler (10) into exhaust rubber mounts (9/1, 9/2)
NOTE: Use lubricant.
9 Loosely screw down left and right flange connection (12a, 12b)of center muffler (10) with three way catalytic converters (158/1, 158/2)
10 Loosely screw down left rear muffler (9a) and center muffler (10) by means of clamp (9c)
11 Loosely screw down left and right rear muffler (9a, 9b) by means of bracket (11/8) and nut (11/7)
12 Align center muffler (10) at right rear muffler (9b) and tighten left and right flange connection (12a, 12b)
NOTE: First of all tighten left flange connection (12a).
13 Align left rear muffler (9a) and tighten clamp (9c)
14 Tighten nut (11/7)
Inspect
15 Inspect installation position and clearance of exhaust system.
NOTE: The exhaust system must be installed free of stress, if necessary, Align exhaust system.
DANGER:
- Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
16 Conduct engine test run and inspect exhaust system for leaks.
