Classification of Injectors
Note:
For Information Only
For the above model vehicle, should an injector be replaced the class of the injector must be assigned to the corresponding cylinder using STAR Diagnosis menu - Control Unit Adaptation --> Classification menu.
The classification of injectors reflects the fuel metering characteristics of the injectors. This makes it possible in the future to tune the engine software to the tolerances of the injectors in small steps.
This feature in SDS has the option to shut down individual injectors for diagnostic purposes while the engine is running. To do this, it is necessary to note the injector's classification beforehand, otherwise the cylinder head cover must be removed to be able to identify it.
If classification of injectors are ignored, it may cause complaints about smoke emissions, unbalanced/bucking engine and performance deteriorations.
IMA coding
Injectors have a 6-digit number/letter combination (Figure 1, circle) on the magnet group. After injectors have been replaced, they are then IMA-coded using STAR Diagnosis under menu: - Control Unit --> Drive --> CDI3 --> Control Unit Adaptation --> Adjustment of injector injection quantities
