GF82.10-P-3012T Substitute Lamp Actuation, Function
When the exterior lights are switched on, the bulbs and LEDs are monitored continuously by the corresponding control units for short circuit and line interruption:
^ Driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) for the left front lamp unit (E1)
^ Front passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) for the right front lamp unit (E2)
^ Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) for the left taillamp (E3) and the right taillamp (E4)
^ Trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit (N28/1) for trailer operation with code (550) Trailer hitch
In the event of failure of lighting relevant to safety the corresponding substitute lamp is actuated.
The scope of substitute light actuations depends on the national version. Flashing functions have priority over continuous light.
Lamp failure indicator
A lamp defect is displayed as text in the multifunction display (A1p13) in the display of the instrument cluster (A1).
Substitute lamp actuation in model 211.2
In model 211.2 the substitute lamp provided in the rear area for a defective bulb is actuated by the rear door control unit (N111). The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) transmits to the rear door control unit (N111), which lamp is to be activated.
If activation is successful, the rear door control unit (N111) transmits a message to the instrument cluster (A1) indicating "substitute lights active".
