Rattling Noise from Front Door Lock When Locking
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding a rattling noise from the front door lock when locking, the door latch mechanism movement may be restricted by a section of non-woven cloth on the back side of the door panel. Perform the following procedure to resolve.
Condition 1
1. Remove door panel. Refer to WIS document AR72.10-P-1000T.
2. Hold down door contact switch and manually lock rotary tumbler.
3. If the latch does not rattle, do not replace the latch. Trim the non-woven cloth on the back side of the door panel (Figure 1).
4. If the rubber bellows on the door latch is twisted, straighten bellows, extend upwards and lubricate with special sliding compound.
Condition 2
5. If the latch still rattles, replace the latch and trim the non-woven cloth on the back side of the door panel (Figure 1).
6. Reinstall door panel. Refer to WIS document AR72.10-P-1000T.
