Replace Radial Sealing Ring On Drive Pinion

Illustration Shows Front Axle Gear For Model 203:

DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer

1 Raise vehicle
2 Detach lower engine compartment paneling
3 Remove front axle gear propeller shaft
4 Remove exhaust shielding plate for front axle gear propeller shaft
5 Remove drive pinion with bearing cap (47)

NOTE: Mark bearing cap in relation to housing of front axle gear Collect any universal hypoid gear oil which flows out

6 Remove spacer washer (47a)

NOTE: Installation: Inspect spacer washer, install new part if necessary, pay attention to thickness.

7 Take off O-ring (47b)

NOTE: Installation: Install new O-ring and coat circumference with universal hypoid gear oil

8 Replace radial sealing ring (42)

NOTE: Coat sealing lip of radial sealing ring with universal hypoid gear oil

9 Install in the reverse order
10 Checking front axle gear oil level and topping up if necessary
