Wiping Feature for the Windshield Wipers Not Functioning

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the intermittent wiping feature for the windshield wipers not functioning upon the occurrence of all of the following conditions, this is due to the designed software logic of the windshield wiper system.
1. The vehicle is stationary
2. Precipitation is falling
3. Driver or front passenger door was recently opened then closed

This is normal wiper operation. When the driver or front passenger door is opened, the windshield wipers stop moving to prevent passengers who are exiting or entering the vehicle from being splashed by wiped away water. In accordance with the design, the intermittent wiping feature reactivates upon one of the following actions after all doors have been closed.
1. Engage transmission into reverse or drive (automatic transmission)
2. Depressing the clutch (manual transmission)
3. Temporarily switching wiper position to continuous wipe
