AZ54.65-P-0001-03Q Install Sensors And Connect







1. Attach adhesive tape to bottom edge of bumper molding strip.
2. Mark center of bumper on adhesive tape.
3. Transfer marks to adhesive tape as shown in figure.







4. Position template on markings from left to right at center according to dimensions specified and transfer 29 mm dia. hole center points to molding strip.
5. Drill molding strip with 5 mm dia. bit.
Drill parallel to vehicle so that the ultrasonic sensor to be installed later is positioned parallel to the road.







6. Check whether holes are drilled in the center of the recesses on the inside of the bumper.







7. Drill holes out to diameter of 29 mm.
Drill parallel to vehicle so that the ultrasonic sensor to be installed later is positioned parallel to the road.
8. Remove molding strip from rear bumper.







9. Cut out max. 2 mm semi-circular recess in 29 mm dia. hole for the contour ring anti-twits lock (8) (see magnified section).

The semi-circular cutout should point toward the bottom of the bumper.

10. Install contour ring (8) for testing seat into mounting hole in molding strip.







11. Position contour ring (8) in mounting hole on trim strip and clip installation housing (7) on from inside of molding strip.
12. Position retaining spring (4) on installation housing (7) and twist against the inside of the molding strip over the catches in the installation housing (7).

Install retaining spring (4) with both cone points toward inside of molding strip.







13. Position molding strip on bumper and check retaining spring (4) for easy motion.
14. If necessary leave bumper open according to drawing until retaining spring (4) and installation housing (7) have sufficient clearance (see arrows).
15. Install molding strip in bumper.







16. Insert impact absorber into bumper.
17. Install inner bumper section (21).
18. Insert wiring harness for ultrasonic sensors (10) into the inner section of the bumper (21), whereby the 6-pin coupling of the rear bumper PTS connector (X35/28) must be positioned on the right in the direction of travel.
19. Connect the connectors of the wiring harness for ultrasonic sensors (10) to the individual sensors and pull the decoupling ring (6) onto front side of sensors (5) (see figure section).
20. Insert the sensor (5) into the installation housing (7) until the lugs on the sensor (5) lock in position audibly in the installation housing (7).

Sensor connections (5) point away from the middle axis of the bumper.







21. Remove existing grommet (arrow) on the right side of the vehicle.
Part no longer required.
22. Guide the wiring harness for ultrasonic sensors (10) with 6-pin coupling through the conduit (see arrow) and seal with grommet on the wiring harness.
