GF82.85-P-3004QN Data Exchange Between The Operating Unit And Instrument Cluster, Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Operation of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) using the multifunction steering wheel
Various systems can be operated and information about these systems can be displayed via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) system using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110), right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111), and the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). These include:
^ Audio systems (radio, CD drive)
^ Telephone

All data is exchanged between the multifunction steering wheel and the radio (A2) via the local interconnect network (LIN) bus and the class B (interior) controller area network bus (CAN-B).

All signals of the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) on the multifunction steering wheel are voltage-coded, read by the steering column module (N80) via the LIN bus, and passed on the CAN-B.
The instrument cluster (A1) detects the coded messages and displays the system currently active or currently operated (audio or telephone) on the multifunction display (A1p13).
At the same time, the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) handles the commands for controlling the functions within the MOST system, converts them into light pulses, and actuates the necessary system components such as the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).
