This document provides an overview of the driver information that CAN-Be called up using the Active Service System (ASSYST) via the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).
The following information can be displayed:
- Service interval
- Fault and warning message on engine oil
- Oil level measurement messages initiated by driver
For most remaining time or remaining distance displays, the service scope (A or B) is displayed as well.
The display language can be selected using the "Settings" function of the instrument cluster (A1).
Remaining distance (Service A)
This display is shown when the service display is manually loaded, or the warning threshold has been reached.
This display does not appear if time-based servicing scheme is active. This can be the case for vehicles with low annual mileage.
Remaining distance (Service B)
This display is shown when the service indicator is manually loaded, or the warning threshold has been reached.
This display does not appear if time-based servicing scheme is active. This can be the case for vehicles with low annual mileage.
Remaining time (The example shows the representation for Service A)
This display is shown for vehicles with low annual mileage when the service display is manually loaded, or when the warning threshold has been reached.
In most cases, the remaining distance is displayed.
Service interval expired (i.e. remaining distance or remaining time)
This display is shown as soon as the service interval has expired. The remaining distance or remaining time is now 0 km or 0 days, respectively. These values are not displayed.
If the service interval is exceeded by more than 100 km or one day, then the "Perform Service A" display is replaced by the following displays.
Service interval (distance) exceeded (remaining distance exceeded)
This display appears as soon as the service interval (remaining distance) is exceeded by more than 100 km.
This display does not appear if time-based servicing scheme (remaining time) is active. This can be the case for vehicles with low annual mileage.
Engine oil warning messages
Too little oil can cause engine damage
This message is shown in red typeface when the oil level has dropped to a level that can cause damage to the engine.
Too much engine oil in the engine
This message is displayed if there is too much oil in the engine.
Oil level measurement messages initiated by driver
This instruction is displayed when the oil level is called up but the ignition is not yet switched on.
Oil level measurement messages initiated by driver
This instruction is always displayed when the oil level is called up. The oil level can only be measured correctly when the vehicle is parked on level ground. This display reminds the driver as such.
Amount of oil lacking
This message is displayed when calling up the oil level after the measurement has been performed and oil must be added.
The following quantities may be displayed:
- 1.0 l, 1.5 l, 2.0 l
- 1.0 qt, 1.5 qts, 2.0 qts
Oil quantity OK
This display appears when the oil level is checked and the measurement shows the oil level to be OK.
If the "observe waiting time" message appears, the waiting time that depends on the engine oil temperature was not observed.
Waiting time
Measuring the oil level is only possible following the expiration of a waiting time following "engine OFF".
If the driver tries to call up the oil level during "Engine ON", the message "Engine oil level not while engine running" appears.
