1 Align the vehicle
NOTE: Align the vehicle horizontally in the longitudinal direction by loading with weights as appropriate. Measure the inclination across the door sills, e g using a spirit level
2 Detach front and rear lower engine compartment paneling
3 Screw in threaded bolt (07n)
NOTE:
- Model 203 without 4MATIC and model 209: Insert threaded bolts into the rearmost threaded holes "k" in the mounting rail. Depending on model, unscrew the rear bolts from the rear engine crossmember (63) or remove the plugs for the threaded holes.
- Model 203 with 4MATIC: Insert threaded bolts into threaded holes "k". To do this, unscrew the relevant bolts (see diagram) from the rear engine crossmember (63).
4 Install cradle (07) horizontally and adjust fixtures (07r, 07s) according to the vehicle model concerned
5 Install telescopic measuring rod (06) on retaining bolt (024b) with connecting parts
- Use the relevant measuring bolt and probes (024) for the corresponding distance or comparison measurement.
6 Carry out distance and comparison measurements on front and rear axles
7 Detach cradle (07) and threaded bolts (07n)
8 Screw in bolts for rear engine crossmember (63) on both sides, or insert plugs for threaded holes
9 Attach front and rear engine compartment paneling
