Heating mode


Component Identification:






Heat mode, automatic air conditioning (AAC) Function
In heat mode fresh air (A) is drawn in by the blower motor (A32m1) as a result of the position of the fresh air flap and recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5). The air cleaned by the all-purpose filter (1) is led through the cooled evaporator (3), where it is dried and cooled. Then the dried and cooled air (B) is heated up again in the heated heat exchanger (4) due to the position of the left blending air flap actuator motor (M2/6) and right blending air flap actuator motor (M2/7).The heated air (C) is led to the air outlets via the left and right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/15), the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16) and vent flaps actuator motor (M2/21).

Cooled air (B) is also diverted immediately downstream of the evaporator (3) for indirect ventilation, which is controlled by the cold air addition wheel at the center vent.
The left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16) is slightly open in this function.
When going from heating mode to cooling mode (mode change) the left and right footwell fresh air actuators (M2/15) start to close. The condensation water is led to the outside condensation water drain.


Cooling mode


Component Identification:






Automatic air conditioning (AAC) cooling mode Function
In cooling mode fresh air (A) is drawn in by the blower motor (A32m1) as a result of the position of the fresh air flap and recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5). The air cleaned by the combination filter (1) is led through the cooled evaporator (3), where it is dried and cooled. Then the dried and cooled air (B) i led past the heated heater heat exchanger (4) due to the position of the left blending air flap actuator motor (M2/6) and right blending air flap actuator motor (M2/7) and led directly to the air outlets due to the position of the left and right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/15), the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16) and vent flaps actuator motor (M2/21).

Cooled air (B) is also diverted immediately downstream of the evaporator (3) for indirect ventilation, which is controlled by the cold air addition wheel at the center vent.
In cooling mode the footwell flaps are closed by the left and right footwell fresh air actuators (M2/15).
The defroster flaps can also be opened when the outside air is dry due to the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16). The other flaps can be operated manually.
When going from cooling mode to heating mode (mode change) the left and right footwell fresh air actuators (M2/15) start to open. The condensation water is led to the outside condensation water drain.

Normal mode

Automatic air conditioning (AAC) normal operation Function
In normal mode (AC OFF lights up) fresh air (A) is drawn in by the blower motor (A32m1) due to the position of the fresh air flap and recirculated air flap actuator (M2/5). The air cleaned by the combination filter (1) is led through the cooled evaporator (3), where it is dried and cooled. Then part of the dried and cooled a (B) is heated up again in the heated heater heat exchanger (4) due to the position of the left blending air flap actuator motor (M2/6) and right blending air flap actuator motor (M2/7)t. The remainder of the dried and cooled air is diverted past the heating system heat exchanger (4) and is blended with the heated air (C) to form blended air (D) downstream of the heating system heat exchanger (4).

Blend air (D) is led to the air outlets due to the position of the left and right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/15), of the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16) and vent flaps actuator motor (M2/21).
In addition the air (B) cooled directly downstream of the evaporator (3) is diverted for indirect ventilation which is controlled at the center nozzle via the cold air mixing thumb wheel.
The defroster flaps can be opened when the outside air is dry due to the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16). The other flaps can be operated manually.
The condensation water is led to the outside condensation water drain.

Blended air mode with recirculated air

Blend air mode with recirculated air of automatic air conditioning (AAC)
Function
In blend air mode with recirculated air (AC OFF lights up) recirculated air is drawn in by the blower motor (A32m1) due to the position of the fresh air flap and recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5). This air is routed through the cooled evaporator (3) and dried and cooled down there. Then part of the dried and cooled air (B) is heated up again in the heated heater heat exchanger (4) due to the position of the left blending air flap actuator motor (M2/6) and right blending air flap actuator motor (M2/7)t. The remainder of the dried and cooled air is diverted past the heating system heat exchanger (4) and is blended with the heated air (C) to form blended air (D) downstream of the heating system heat exchanger (4).

Blend air (D) is led to the air outlets due to the position of the left and right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/15), of the left and right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/16) and vent flaps actuator motor (M2/21).
Cooled air (B) is also diverted immediately downstream of the evaporator (3) for indirect ventilation, which is controlled by the cold air addition wheel at the center vent.
