- with CODE (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning
Component Identification:
Function
The electronically controlled cooling, heating and ventilation system of the convenience automatic air conditioning achieves the desired interior temperature as rapidly as possible or maintains it constantly throughout:
^ the evaporator cooling the air
^ the heating system heat exchanger heating the air
^ Heating mode
The in-car temperature sensor (N22/7b1) in the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22/7) and the in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) (as of 1.6.05) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70) measure the interior temperature.
In addition the outside temperature is also determined by the outside temperature indicator temperature sensor (B14), the humidity is determined by the C-AAC multifunction sensor (B31) and the intensity and direction of the solar radiation is determined by the C-AAC sun sensor (4 sensors in total) (B32/2).
The electronic control of the comfort AAC pushbutton control unit (N22/7) compares the various measured values with the temperature preselected at the temperature push buttons.
Depending on demand, the electronics vary the settings of the comfort automatic air conditioning by altering the position of the blend air flaps by means of the left blending air flap actuator motor (M2/6) and the right blending air flap actuator (M2/7), or maintain the particular setting constant.
On model 209.4, while driving with an open soft top, the value of the in-car temperature sensor (N22b1) and the value of the in- car temperature sensor (N70b1) (as of 1.6.05) are ignored. The temperature control is controlled in this case with the aid of a fixed characteristic.
The substitute value in the event of a failure of the in-car temperature sensor (N22b1) and the in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) (as of 1.6.05) is 24 °C.
^ Cooling mode
The evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6) measures the air temperature at the air outlet of the evaporator, while the in-car temperature sensor (N22/7b1) in the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22/7) and the in-car temperature sensor (N70b1) (as of 1.6.05) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70) determine the particular interior temperature.
The electronics of the convenience automatic air conditioning pushbutton control unit (N22/7) compares the various measured values with the temperature preselected at the temperature push-button.
Depending on demand, the electronic control alters the settings of the convenience automatic air conditioning by operating the refrigerant compressor or maintaining the particular setting constant.
