AR83.70-P-5302Q Remove/Install STH Heater
- with CODE (228) Stationary heater or retrofitted stationary heater







DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
- Risk of explosion from fuel vapors risk of poisoning from inhaling combustion gases and risk of injury from burns during and after operation of heater unit
- Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or while filling fuel tank Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.


1 Disconnect ground cable of battery
2 Relieve pressure in coolant circuit

NOTE: To do this, turn closure cap of the coolant expansion tank to notch position 1.

3 Remove front bumper
4 Remove front engine compartment paneling
5 Pinch coolant hoses (1)
- See "Special Tool - Clamp" given below.

6 Disconnect coolant hoses (1)

NOTE: Collect any escaping coolant in a clean container and put back into the coolant expansion tank after installation is complete.

7 Disconnect fuel hose (2)

CAUTION: Seal off fuel hose (2) to prevent fuel from escaping.

8 Disconnect connectors (3)
9 Remove screws (4).
10 Remove STH heater unit (A6) with bracket (5)
11 Install in the reverse order
12 Perform basic programming
13 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase.

Testing
14 Start up the stationary heater

NOTE: If the heater (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be restarted again, a fault interlock has occurred. Override fault interlock, refer to STAR DIAGNOSIS.

15 Inspect cooling system for leaks
16 Perform function check
