Removing And Installing Electronic Stability Program (ESP) Hydraulic Unit
Connections On The Traction Systems Hydraulic Unit (A7/3):
Remove/Install
DANGER:
- Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.
- Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses when handling brake fluid.
CAUTION:
- See notes on handling brake fluid
- See notes on repairs to brake system
1 Ignition OFF
2 Clean traction systems hydraulic unit (A7/3) around the line connections
3 Detach brake lines
NOTE: Mark hydraulic lines in relation to corresponding connections before disconnecting. Trace line routing to the corresponding wheel.
CAUTION: Seal off brake lines and connections to prevent foreign objects from entering the system.
4 Unlock and unplug ESP control module connector (42)
5 Unscrew traction systems hydraulic unit (A7/3) from bracket and remove
CAUTION: Installation: Rinse off any escaped brake fluid in the area of the frame side member with water in order to avoid paint damage.
6 Install in the reverse order
7 Bleed brake system.
Inspect
8 Check brake system for leaks
9 Perform basic programming
10 Read out fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary
NOTE: After completion of the work, it is necessary to process and erase the DTCs stored in the DTC memory during assembly and testing work due to disconnected lines and simulation.
