GF42.45-P-0001-04PP Electronic stability program (ESP), driver information
Component Identification:
Driver information
Low brake fluid level and parking brake indicator lamp (A1e7)
This lamp is activated if the parking brake is not released when driving or the brake fluid is below the minimum level.
ABS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e17)
This lamp is actuated when there is a fault in the ABS system. The signal for actuating the lamp comes over the engine compartment CAN from the ESP and BAS control module (N47-5).
ESP warning lamp (A1e41)
This lamp is actuated whenever the system intervenes in the driving situation.
The signal for actuating the lamp comes over the engine compartment CAN from the ESP and BAS control module (N47-5).
The driver is alerted to the ESP intervention by the ESP warning lamp (A1e41) in the instrument cluster. The information through the steering wheel and brake pedal reaction is so limited that it does not distract the driver, who is already highly tense on having reached the critical handling limits.
The warning lamp flashes in the event of:
^ Active intervention by the brake system during acceleration or deceleration
^ Reduction of engine torque
Reactions in the event of failure of individual components and displays in the instrument cluster (see table below)
Condition 1:
System fully operational
Condition 2:
Fault in ESP, but ASR and ABS still fully operational
Condition 3:
Fault in ASR (of necessity ESP must also be shut down), but ABS still fully operational
Condition 4:
Fault in ABS (of necessity ESP, ASR and BAS must also be shut down), no systems operational
