With Code 414, Sliding Roof

A. Water Leakage at Front or Side

B. Rattle Noise with Roof Tilted Up at High Speeds

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of either of the below conditions, do not replace the sliding roof frame please perform the respective remedies to resolve.

Condition A:

Water leakage from the front or side of the tilting/sliding roof due to the seal not being sufficiently compressed due to normal body shell tolerances.

Remedy A:

1. Remove sliding roof frame. Refer to WIS Documents AR77.20-P-3000P (for 203), AR77.20-P-3000Q (for 209), AR77.20-P-3000T (for 211), AR77.20-P-3000E (for 215 and 220) or AR77.20-P-3000TX (for 219).

2. Position butyl cord on the sliding roof frame following the yellow lines (Figures 1 and 2). Detailed information regarding the exact position of the butyl cord in the transition areas see Figures 3 and 4.

3. Reinstall sliding roof frame. Refer to WIS documents as stated in step 1.

Condition B:

Rattle noise from the tilting/sliding roof with the roof tilted up when driving at high speeds. The water drain gutter at the rear of the tilting/sliding roof panel is not making sufficient/firm contact with the roof. The rattle noise is produced by contact between the water drain gutter and the tilting brackets.

Remedy B:

1. Remove molding and tilting/sliding roof panel. Refer to WIS document AR77.20-P-0500P (for 203), AR77.20-P-0500Q (for 209), AR77.20-P-0500T (for 211) and AR77.20-P-0500F (for 215 and 220).

2. Close tilting/sliding roof and move to the tilted position.

3. Detach the clips fastening the water drain gutter to the tilting roof mechanism.

4. Remove the water drain gutter through the gap between the glass and roof while in the tilted position.

5. Carefully bend the water drain gutter an additional 5 mm more than the current curvature (Figure 5).

6. Reinstall water drain gutter and all other components in the reverse order.
