The direction of the SR motor (M12m1) is determined by the polarity of the actuating voltage from the overhead control panel control module (N70).

The polarity of the actuating voltage is determined by a two-coil relay (alternating relay with non-actuated position). Both sliding/pop-up roof functions are accomplished by the SR motor (M12m1).
Starting with the pop-up roof open, turning of the SR motor SHD (M12m1) in one direction causes the pop-up roof to close.If the motor continues to turn in the same direction, the sliding roof is opened.

Hall sensor 1 (M12b1) and Hall sensor 2 (M12b2) on the SR motor (M12m1) supply pulses for position measurement which are analyzed by the overhead control panel control module (N70).
