Front Center Armrest Lid
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of either of the conditions listed below, perform the respective remedy as stated.
Condition 1:
Lid for the front center armrest and storage compartment has fallen off or is not closing correctly.
Applicable Models:
203/209 MY 05 or 06, Equipped with "Flip top" armrest design
Remedy 1a:
Reinstall the lid. If the pivots or levers are not damaged do not replace the lid, reinstall lid as per WIS document AR68.20-P-2370Q (or view the video demonstration on the MBUSA Training and Education website at http://tech_trainingdev.mbusa.com/console and latch) and then check the lid for correct functioning. Starting October 11, 2004, lids replaced under warranty will be inspected for damage to the pivots and levers. If the pivots and levers are found to be okay, the claim will be debited.
Note:
For 203 MY 05 or 06, if the customer is not satisfied with remedy 1a, a new armrest lid (see parts information) can be retrofitted as per WIS document AR68.20-P-1101Q. This retrofit is customer pay.
Remedy 1b:
Inspect the bin or lid for damage. If the bin or the lid is damaged, replace the bin and lid per WIS document AR68.20-P-2150QA. If the damage causing part is the lid, use damage code 68119. If the damage causing part is the bin, use damage code 68115 or 68118 (depending on model).
Condition 2 (209 only - as of MY 05):
Front center armrest latch will not open or catches when opening.
Applicable Models:
209 MY 05 or 06, Equipped with "Flip top" armrest design
Remedy 2:
This may be caused by tolerance problems in the kinematics of the latch or the latch may be broken. If this occurs, it is not necessary to replace the entire lid.
1. Replace only the latch (Figure 1, 1).
2. Remove and install the old lock cylinder (Figure 1, 2) as per WIS document AR68.20-P-2380P.
Condition 3:
Rubbing noise from center armrest lid.
Applicable Models:
203 - up to A044555 or F026062 / 209 - up to F147223 or T044943
Remedy 3:
This may be due to the center armrest lid rubbing against the catch area when driving (Figure 2 for 209 or Figure 3 for 203, arrows). To resolve, lightly grease the catch area.
