GF82.60-P-2003QN Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function

GF82.60-P-2003QN Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

All volume and sound adjustments are made at the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) and transmitted to the audio gateway integrated in the radio and navigation unit (A2/56). A distinction must be made between the audio and service sources listed below:
Audio sources:
^ CD drive
^ Radio tuner

Service sources:
^ Traffic announcements
^ Telephone system (with code (388) Telephone "Handy", UPCI system)
^ Voice control system (with code (813) Voice control system (VCS))

Volume setting
The volume of whichever audio source is selected or in use can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).
In addition, the volume can be adjusted separately in all the audio and service areas (e.g. telephone, traffic information radio channel). Thus, the volume of the traffic information can be increased or decreased using the rotary pushbutton. Using the "Reset" function, predefined settings for all sound parameters, including volume, can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default settings.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO)
The volume is adapted in accordance with the background noise in the interior compartment via the SDV and the automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation DRO. In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.

Reducing the volume
The user mutes the audio source currently being listened to by pressing the Mute button. In CD-mode, the CD player is set to the Pause mode.
The "muting" function status can also be triggered automatically. If the vehicle is equipped with code (388) Telephone "Handy", UPCI system and if the portable CTEL (A34/6) is placed in the UPCI [UHI] portable CTEL holder (Universal Handy Interface) (A34/15), the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) switches to telephone mode for an incoming call and the currently selected audio source is muted.

Tone setting
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) has a manual sound setting (bass, treble, balance, fader) available for each audio source, with the "Audio" menu being accessible from all other functions, except the "Auto-On" function. Bass is the first sound setting displayed on the display of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56). By pressing the "Audio" function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left and right), fader (front and rear), increase volume, and traffic announcements can be called up.
The messages are displayed on the display of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) in the "Audio" menu. The volume control always refers to the function that is currently active. With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes. The sound settings (balance, fader) are made by pressing the main function key for sound distribution on the left-hand side of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).

The signal processing required for the volume and sound adjustments is provided by the audio gateway integrated in the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).

With vehicles with code (810) Sound System, all speakers are connected to the sound amplifier (A2/13).
