A35/11 Voice control system control unit

Location
The voice control system control unit is located in the trunk on the implement carrier.

Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":
- Radio and navigation unit (A2/56), with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3), with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)

Receiving signals
Direct lines
- Power supply via circuit 31 and circuit 30g over one direct line each
- Electronic wake-up for Media Oriented System Transport MOST) via one direct line
- Voice signals from handsfree system microphone group (A67b1) over a direct line

Noise reduction
When the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) is active, the signals from the handsfree system microphone group can have any vehicle driving noise removed by means of an extremely efficient noise reduction module.

Echo compensation
Because some of the speech signals are fed back during voice output at the installed speakers through the handsfree system microphone group, the person holding the call hears his own voice as an annoying echo. To help suppress this echo, the voice control system control unit is given an extremely high-performance echo compensation, which acts in both transmission directions.

Transmitting signals
MOST
The voice control system control unit uses the MOST and sends signals to the:
- UPCI [UHI] (Universal Portable Cell Phone Interface) control unit (N123/1), with code (386) Mobile phone
- "Audio unit"
