GF07.10-P-1026D Gasoline Diesel Fuel Injection System, Function

GF07.10-P-1026D Gasoline Diesel Fuel Injection System, Function
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

The gasoline injection system CGI is characterized by fuel injection with a compression of to 120 bar directly into the combustion chamber. The fuel-air mixture is produced within the combustion chamber (internal mixture formation).

The fuel is injected according to the operating condition of the engine in such a way that in homogeneous operation (normal operation) a homogeneous fuel air mixture with lambda=1 is created spread over the whole combustion chamber or in shift operation (lean-burn operation with lambda>1 a stratified charge cloud is formed the area of the spark plug. In the stratified mode the remaining combustion chamber is filled either with the inert gas recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculation or by a very lean fuel-air mixture.
This means that in stratified charge operation an overall lean fuel-air mixture is created with 1
These different possibilities of operating the engine are known as operating modes. The choice of the operating mode is made on the basis of the engine speed and requested engine torque or through functional requests such as regeneration of the NOx catalytic converter.

In stratified charge operation (at the lowest engine load and engine speed) a fuel saving of up to 20% is achieved.

The following input parameters of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit determines the (performance map dependent) injection quantity to be calculated:
^ Air mass
^ Intake manifold pressure
^ Intake air temperature
^ Coolant temperature
^ Engine speed
^ Accelerator pedal position (loading request)
^ Loading request via the CAN (e.g. from the automatic air conditioning)
^ Atmospheric pressure (for altitude adaptation)
