GF07.10-P-1025D Limiting Maximum Engine Speed, Function

GF07.10-P-1025D Limiting Maximum Engine Speed, Function
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit detects the engine speed via the crankshaft position sensor signal. For protection of the engine and the drive train the maximum engine speed is limited, by:
^ Reduction of the opening angle of the throttle valve
^ Increasing the opening angle of the air recirculation flap
^ Taking back the ignition angle
^ Switching off the fuel injectors

1. Transmission protection (with transmission 716)
In order to avoid damage to the transmission, the maximum engine speed is limited to approx. 4000 rpm.

2. Torque converter protection (with transmission 722)
In order to protect the torque converter in selector lever positions P or N (no power flow) from excessive static internal pressure, the maximum engine speed is limited to approx. 4200 rpm.

3. Limitation of maximum engine speed in driving mode
In order to protect the engine from the consequences of impermissibly high engine revs, the engine speed is limited to approx. 6000 rpm.
The driving mode is detected from the vehicle speed signal.

4. Throttle valve actuator faulty
In the event of a defective throttle valve actuator, the maximum engine speed is limited in idle to approx. 1400 rpm and in driving mode to approx. 1800 rpm.

5. Missing variant coding
If no variant coding exists, maximum engine speed is limited to 2400 rpm.
