GF07.10-P-1014D Deceleration Fuel Shutoff Function
GF07.10-P-1014D Deceleration Fuel Shutoff Function
- up to model year 08
Component Identification:
The braking effect of the engine in overrun mode increases and the fuel consumption reduced by the deceleration fuel shutoff.
In overrun mode the ME-SFI [ME] control unit switches the fuel injectors off dependent on coolant temperature, gear and rpm if the accelerator pedal is not actuated.
The fuel injection valves are switched on again when the accelerator pedal is operated.
The engine speed and coolant temperature for the deceleration fuel shutoff are transmission-driven (various performance maps).
The deceleration fuel shutoff is suppressed at excessively high exhaust gas temperatures because the high oxygen content in the exhaust during deceleration fuel shutoff can lead to increased oxidation of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon (after burning). The heat so generated can overheat the catalytic converters.
The exhaust gas temperature is detected upstream of the NOx catalytic converter by the CAT temperature sensor and an appropriate signal sent to the ME-SFI [ME] control unit.
