Convertible Top Warning Buzzer: Description and Operation

Location
In instrument cluster (A1)

Purpose
To provide acoustic warning signal when Vario roof is not completely locked and vehicle speed exceeds threshold of v=8 km/h.

Function
The gong in the instrument cluster is actuated when the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold (v = 8 km/h) and at least one of the following switches is not actuated: Vario roof "locked" limit switch (right rotary tumbler), Vario roof "locked" limit switch (left rotary tumbler), left trunk lid "closed/locked" limit switch, or right trunk lid "closed/locked" limit switch. The gong remains active as long as the criterion is fulfilled, max. 10 s. The gong is actuated again when circuit 15 is switched off and back on or when the control switch (S84) is activated.

If subsequent locking is possible, the gong is activated only after the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold. If subsequent locking is not possible, the gong is activated immediately. Subsequent locking is possible only when no limit switch malfunctions have been recognized before the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold. In the function switch-off mode the gong is activated after 6.5 minutes, after starting the function switch-off mode for 30 seconds.
