Headlamp Cleaning System (Hcs [SRA]) Function

Headlamp Cleaning System (HCS [SRA]) Function

Function prerequisites:
- Circuit 15 ON

Function
- The headlamp cleaning system can be switched on by pressing the headlamp cleaning system switch (S1s1).
- This connects ground to the corresponding input of the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) which reads in the switch.
- The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) relays the switch-on pulse to the passenger compartment CAN bus as a message.
- The passenger-side SAM control module (N10/11) reads this message and connects c. 5 to the HCS pump (M5/2) for a switch-on time of approx. 1 second via an electronic switch (transistor).
- The HCS pump (M5/2) builds up water pressure in the line.
- The water pressure acts against the return springs in the telescopic nozzle.
- Before the telescopic nozzles extend, spraying water on the headlamp lenses.
- After expiration of the switch-on time, the pressure in the water line decreases and the telescopic nozzles are retracted to their initial position by the spring force.

NOTE: Actuating the headlamp cleaning system switch (S1s1) again while a headlamp cleaning cycle is in process has no effect. The next cleaning cycle is started only after completion of the previous cycle.
