Power Window Obstruction Sensor, Function

Power Window Obstruction Sensor, Function

Function
The obstruction sensor is active only in the case of the automatic raising function of the front side windows. It is only effective in the upper opening range of the window from 4 ... 230 mm. The obstruction sensor is not effective in the case of manual raising.
If the left door control module (N69/1) or the right door control module (N69/2) recognizes an obstruction by comparing the received Hall signal pulses (number, pulse duration, pulse pause duration) with the stored reference values, it stops the actuation of the relevant power window motor and moves the window down by approx. 5 cm (reversing).
If the power window switch was still operated in the raising direction at the moment of the obstruction, the raising is stopped immediately. After the switch is released, the window moves down only by approx. 1 cm.

Adaptation reference values in control module
In view of the fact that the power window mechanism becomes stiffer as a rule in the course of time, an adaptation is performed in the synchronized state in the door control modules during each closing/opening operation. This is done by comparing the pulse pattern of the Hall signals Just received (number, pulse duration pulse pause direction) with the last received signals and the stored data (old reference values), and stored as a new reference provided it is within the permissible tolerance range.
This adaptation does not take place, in the case of:
- "Obstruction" recognition
- Lock up of power window

The stored values are retained even after the supplied voltage is disconnected or if desynchronizing is performed.
