Rear Fog Lamp Actuation, Function






Operational sequence
1 Basic prerequisite:
- The exterior lamp switch module (S1) is set to the "headlamp ON" or "Standing light ON" position:
- the low beams (E1e2 and E2e2) or the parking lamp in the headlamp units and
- the bulbs in the taillamps as well as the left and right license plate lamps (E19/1 and E19/2) are switched on.
- The exterior lamp switch (S1) is pulled out to the 1st. notched position "Fog lamp ON":
- the fog lamps (E5/1 and E5/2) are switched on.
2 The exterior lamp switch is pulled out to the 2nd. notched position "Fog lamps ON".
3 In addition to the parking lamp and low beams as well as fog lamp position of the exterior light switch the left SAM control module senses the signal"Rear fog lamp ON".
4 The left front SAM control module transmits the signal "Fog lamp ON" to the rear SAM control module (N10/8) via the data bus (1).
5 The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the "fog lamp" (E3e5) in the left-hand tail lamp.
6 The green fog lamp indicator lamp as well as the yellow rear fog lamp indicator lamp in the exterior lamp switch (S1) signal visually indicate that the front fog lamps and rear fog lamp are switched on.
