Remove/Install Bottom Part Of Oil Pan

DANGER:
- Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the pillars of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform mounting points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.


1 Turn steering wheel to center position (front wheels in straight ahead position) and fix in place

CAUTION: The steering wheel must not be turned when the steering coupling is detached otherwise the contact spiral will be destroyed.

2 Extract oil from reservoirs of the tandem pump (30)
- Model 215, 220, 230

3.1 Unscrew oil dipstick guide tube from bracket at exhaust gas recirculation valve
- Model 211, 220, 230

3.2 Pull oil dipstick guide pipe out slightly
- Model 211, 220, 230

4 Remove engine compartment paneling
5 Unscrew bolt of engine mount to front axle carrier (11a)
6 Bolt bracket to supercharger

NOTE: Only engine 113.992/991/990

7 Attach engine support bracket and raise engine
8 Remove front axle carrier (2)

CAUTION: When working on the front axle, ensure that the surfaces of all aluminum parts do not suffer any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced.

9 Remove bracket of high-pressure line (power steering pump) at oil pan bottom section
- Model 211, 220, 230

10 Drain and collect engine oil

11 Separate electrical plug socket at oil sensor
12 Detach ATF lines of automatic transmission (49) from transmission housing and seal connections

NOTE:
- Installation: Replace sealing rings.
- Seal connections.

13 Slacken clamping plate (8) and turn through 90 degrees, take off clamp (7) and bracket (9), place ATF lines of automatic transmission (49) to the side

CAUTION: Do not bend or buckle oil lines, otherwise the oil lines can get leaky.

14.1 Detach high pressure expansion hose of ABC system (59) at tandem pump (30)
- Model 215, 220, 230

NOTE:
- Installation: Replace O-rings.
- Seal connections.

14.2 Unscrew union nut of high pressure expansion hose of ABC system (41h) and remove high pressure expansion hose of ABC system (59)
- Model 215, 220, 230

NOTE: Remove retaining clips of high pressure expansion hose of ABC system at oil pan.

15 Unbolt bottom part of oil pan (1) and remove

NOTE: In the process slide the oil dipstick guide pipe slightly to one side.

CAUTION: Installation: Pay attention to the correct seating of the oil dipstick guide pipe gasket in the upper part of the oil pan in order to prevent leaks.

NOTE:
Observe application of sealing compound to oil pan bottom section
- See Information on application of sealant to oil pan.

16 Install in the reverse order
17 Read out fault memory with STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase if necessary.

18 Check engine oil level 2 minutes after switching off the engine at normal operating temperature, correct if required
19 Fill and bleed ABC system
- Model 215, 220, 230

20 Pour oil into reservoirs of tandem pump, check oil level.

21 Inspect ATF level of automatic transmission, top up ATF if necessary
22 Run engine and inspect for leaks.
