Electric seat adjustment with memory
Driver and front passenger seats are electrically adjustable. Adjustment is manual using the adjusting switch in the relevant switch train for the two front seats. The memory function can be used to store and retrieve 3 individual seat positions.
This is controlled by the "memory" system which contains the following functions:
- manual seat and steering column adjustment
- Driver-side memory adjustment (seat, steering column, exterior rearview mirror)
- passenger side memory adjustment (seat)
- Easy entry/exit
- Mirror park position
- Key-dependent settings
- Multicontour backrest
Function requirements
- no overvoltage/undervoltage
- circuit 15R ON or
- circuit 15 ON or
- driver's door open or
- front passenger door open
- Normalizing of seat adjustment
Adjustment function
- Height adjustment
- Forward/back adjustment
- Adjustment of angle
- Backrest forward/back
- Head restraint adjustment
Head restraint presetting
The position of the head restraint is preset to one of four settings during longitudinal adjustment. In order to make small longitudinal adjustments possible without changing the head restraint setting, the head restraint drive is not actuated until the longitudinal position has changed by approx. 15 mm.
Grouping
The adjusting functions are divided into two groups. Only one motor per group can be actuated at the same time.
If the seat adjusting switch is activated for more than one adjusting function in a group, the functions are actuated in the following order:
Group 1:
- Forward/back adjustment
- Rear seat up/down
- Seat cushion forward/back adjustment
Group 2:
- Backrest forward/back
- Adjustment of angle
- Head restraint adjustment
NOTE: If another adjustment is made in addition to forward/back adjustment, the "head restraint presetting" function is not carried out.
Control modules
The left front seat adjustment with memory control module (N32/1); and right front seat adjustment with memory control module (N32/2) each control 6 motors which are split up into the left front seat adjustment with memory motor group (M27); and right front seat adjustment with memory motor group (M28).
Driver/passenger side:
- Forward/back motor (M27m1/M28m1)
- Rear raise/lower motor (M27m2/M28m2)
- Front raise/lower motor (M27m3/M28m3)
- Head restraint raise/lower motor (M27m4/M28m4)
- Backrest forward/back motor (M27m5/M28m5)
- Seat cushion forward/back motor (M27m6/M28m6)
The seat position is detected by a Hall sensor at the adjusting function motors.
Their direction of rotation is assigned automatically.
Memory facilities
There are two ways of storing the respective positions:
Example driver side
a) The memory switch (S91/2s9) is pressed and held and in addition the memory position 1 switch (S91/2s6), memory position 2 switch (S91/2s7) or the memory position 3 switch (S91/2s8) is also pressed.
b) If the memory switch (S91/2s9) is pressed and then released, it is then necessary to press within t ≤ 3 s the desired memory position: memory position 1 switch (S91/2s6), memory position 2 switch (S91/2s7) or memory position 3 switch (S91/2s8).
NOTE: The procedure for storing the position on the passenger side is the same as on the driver side.
Storing positions
The positions are stored in the left front seat adjustment with memory control module (N32/1) and in the right front seat adjustment with memory control module (N32/2).
Retrieving the stored positions (example driver side)
Press and hold the relevant memory position 1 switch (S91/2s6), memory position 2 switch (S91/2s7) or memory position 3 switch (S91/2s8) until the seats have moved to the stored position.
If the memory position button is released during the time a stored position is being set, the adjustment stops immediately.
NOTE:
- Head restraint adjustments made by pressing the operating switch or setting to a stored position are independent of the "head restraint presetting" function.
- If key-dependent memory position has been activated in the instrument cluster (A1), this is performed first of all. In other words, the driver seat moves to the last position assigned to the appropriate key.
