Automatically Dim Left/Right Exterior Rearview Mirrors Function
Automatically Dim Left/Right Exterior Rearview Mirrors Function
Function requirements
- No overvoltage/undervoltage
- Circuit-15R or 15 ON
- Reverse gear not engaged
Function
The mirrors are dimmed in stages as a function of the actuation voltage applied. The electronics in the inside rearview mirror unit (A67) register the ambient light and the light striking the mirror lens, and analyzes these input parameters.
The two input parameters are detected by the mirror dimming forward sensor (A67h1) in the mirror housing (rear) and by the mirror dimming to rear sensor (A67h2) in the mirror lens of the inside rearview mirror unit (A67). The inside rearview mirror unit (A67) supplies dimming information to the overhead control panel control module (N70) and transmits this as a CAN message to the left door control module (N69/1). The left door control module (N69/1) controls the actuation voltage accordingly for dimming the driver-side mirror.
NOTE: The dimming operation is ended if an interior lamp is switched on and/or reverse gear engaged.
