Unlocking By Opening A Door, Function

Unlocking By Opening A Door, Function

Essentially, any door can be opened from inside even if the vehicle was previously locked using the interior switch or the automatic locking/re-locking function. Opening the driver or front passenger door from inside unlocks the vehicle either partially or completely in the following cases:

Opening driver or front passenger door:
If the vehicle is first of all "globally" unlocked, the vehicle is unlocked centrally through the door contact switches as soon as one or both front door or doors is/are opened provided the vehicle was locked beforehand using the interior switch or the automatic locking/drive-away locking function.

The vehicle is unlocked in this case only below the speed threshold of the automatic locking.

NOTE: Speed threshold for doors: 15 km/h

If the vehicle has been unlocked "Selectively", the CL is not unlocked through the door contact switches, but only the relevant door is unlocked manually.

Emergency opening of trunk lid (USA)
By pressing the trunk lid emergency opening switch (S88/10), it is possible to open the trunk lid from the inside of the trunk in an emergency (e.g. persons trapped). The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) reads in the switch voltage-coded and opens the trunk lid pneumatically irrespective of whether the trunk lid was closed manually or whether the vehicle was locked centrally.
