Central Locking (CL), Function

Central Locking (CL [ZV]), Function

Operating Central Locking (CL) With Remote Control Key, Function:

The central locking controls the function "Remote controlled opening and closing" of the vehicle.

These convenience features are components of the drive authorization system (DAS 3).

Conditions for activating central locking
- Remote control with remote control key (A8/1).
- Operation with interior CL open switch (S6/5s2).
- By opening a vehicle door from the inside.
- Remote control using Keyless Go card (only with code 889)

Operational sequence
The vehicle is locked and unlocked by pressing the relevant transmitter buttons of the remote control key (A8/1). The RF antenna is integrated in the windshield. The overhead control panel control module (N70) passes the demodulated RF signals of the right antenna amplifier module (A2/65) via the passenger compartment CAN to the EIS control module (N73).

The IR receivers are installed in the handles of the driver and front passenger doors. Demodulation of the IR signals is performed by the left door control module (N69/1) and by the right door control module (N69/2).

The information is forwarded via the passenger compartment CAN to the EIS control module (N73). The EIS control module (N73) verifies the validity of the remote control key (A8/1) and operates the central locking.

NOTE: Emergency opening of trunk lid (USA)
- By pressing the trunk lid emergency opening switch (S88/10), it is possible to open the trunk lid from the inside of the trunk in an emergency (persons trapped). The pneumatic control module with combined functions (A37) reads in this switch voltage-coded and opens the trunk lid pneumatically irrespective of whether the trunk lid was closed manually or whether the vehicle was locked centrally.
