AR32.25-P-1018P Disassemble/Assemble Suspension Strut
- except CODE (P98) Black Series [model 209]
DANGER:
- Risk of injury with trapped or crushed fingers when working on springs or spring-loaded components
- Use only approved tensioning devices, additionally shield off hazardous area if necessary
- Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection)
- Wear protective gloves
1 Remove front spring strut (11)
2 Clamp spring compressor in vice and install spring fittings
3 Install strut (11) in compressor
NOTE: When installing compressor ensure that it will compress at least three coils on the spring (12)
4 Compress spring (12), continuing until it longer exerts pressure on the upper mount
NOTE: Note correct installation position
5 Unscrew grooved nut (11d)
NOTE: Use Alien wrench to apply counterpressure on piston rod (11g)
6 Remove strut bushing (He)
7 Remove strut (11)
8 Release tension on compressor, remove spring (12) and upper spring mount
NOTE: Mark the spring (12) with chalk prior to removing (arrow)
9 Inspect strut (11)
- Check strut insert for leakage A thin film of oil on the strut insert is acceptable
10 Use compressor to compress upper spring plate and spring (12)
NOTE: When installing compressor ensure that it will compress at least three coils on the spring (12)
11 Clamp spring (12)
12 Install strut insert
13 Position strut bushing (11c) on the upper spring support
NOTE: Install the strut bushing (11c) with its highest point intersecting a direct line to the outer end of the attachment tab
14 Install grooved nut (11d)
NOTE: Use Alien wrench to apply counterpressure to piston rod (11a)
15 Release spring (12a) and remove strut (11) from spring compressor
16 Install front strut assembly (11)
17 Perform chassis alignment check
- Only necessary after accident repair
