Speed Sensitive Power Steering Feature Inoperative

If you encounter customer reports in the above model vehicles of loss of the speed sensitive power steering feature, check the Q level of the ESP control unit. It must have a Q level of Q3 or higher, if not install a new ESP control unit with status level Q3 or higher. The Q level can be found next to the part number on the control unit. This condition may be caused by a software error in the ESP control unit and fault code C1600 may be stored in the ESP control unit. For ESP control unit installation instructions, refer to WIS document no. AR42.45-P-0820P.
