"Brake Wear! Visit Workshop!" Displayed in Instrument Cluster without Obvious Cause

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the message "Brake Wear! Visit Workshop" displayed within the instrument cluster's multifunction display and the warning lamp for brake lining wear illuminates, the electrical harness for the brake lining wear sensor may be chafed. The chafe may be the result of a misrouted wire harness. Inspect the front sensor's wire harness for correct routing and ensure that the harness is installed in the retaining clip (Figure 1 and 2). Additionally inspect the sensor's harness in the area of the retaining clip for chafes. If the harness shows indication of chafing, replace the brake wear lining sensor. Refer to WIS documents AR42.10-P-1600PF and AH42.10-P-0003-01A.
