GF91.60-P-4011-01Q SRS Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Task
- up to 31.5.04
The airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) on the instrument cluster (A1) serves as a function check of the supplemental restraint system. In the event of a fault a message also appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) via the instrument cluster (A1): System is OK:
^ If the system is OK, the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) illuminates with "Circuit 15 ON" and goes out again after approx. 4 seconds. If this is not the case, then a system fault exists.
Uncritical faults:
^ Faults or malfunctions that do not endanger the protection of the occupants exist if the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) comes on for significantly longer than 4 seconds in the "Circuit 15 ON" position. The "RESTRAINT SYSTEM SERVICE" message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
Critical faults:
^ Faults or malfunctions, which could lead to no or incorrect deployment of the safety elements, are displayed when the engine is running by the continuous illumination of the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15). When such a fault occurs occupant protection can no longer be guaranteed. The message "RESTRAINT SYSTEM, VISIT WORKSHOP" appears on the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1).
Restraint system control unit (N2/7) not parameterized
If the restraint system control unit (N2/7) is not parameterized, this is displayed by the flashing of the SRS airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15). If the system also has a fault, it is indicated; the parameter setting display has lower priority in this case.
In the event of a fault or malfunction, the entire system should be checked using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
The seat belt mechanical protection function is independent of the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) and is not monitored by the system.
