Note:
For Information Only
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that after touching the shift lever towards the left direction the transmission shifts down apparently" implausibly while driving, this is caused by a new operating concept and is not to be considered a fault in operation.
Note:
This symptom can occur in older vehicles which have had a transmission control unit exchanged which contains the later shift logic.
The following information is provided to assist when explaining this operating concept to customers.
Old concert:
When touching the shifter one time to the left direction, the display would change from "D" to "4". A downshift may occur from 5 gear to 4 gear depending on the situation.
New concept:
When touching the shifter one time to the left direction, the transmission will downshift one gear from the currently engaged gear to the next lower gear when the driving situation permits. The transmission display will likewise change from "D" to the actual gear which has been engaged.
Example:
Display "D", vehicle speed is 20MPH and 3 gear is engaged.
Old concert - When touching the shifter one time to the left direction, the display will change from "D" to "4" and no downshift will occur.
New concert - When touching the shifter one time to the left direction, the display will change from "D" to "2" and the transmission has shifted down to 2nd gear.
