Function
The roof system drive unit is a combined sliding and tilting roof. The sliding roof opens to the rear. The pop-up roof opens upward at the rear. The sliding and tilting roofs cannot be opened simultaneously. Operation is accomplished via the SR switch (N70s1) in the overhead control panel control unit (N70). The following functions can be triggered with the SR switch (N70s1):
^ Manually opening and closing sliding roof
^ Automatically opening and closing sliding roof
^ Manually opening and closing tilting roof
^ Automatically opening and closing pop-up roof.

The automatic function allows the roof to be adjusted to the last position set (and stored) by briefly activating the switch.
The convenience feature opens/closes the tilting/sliding roof when the lock/unlock button on the transmitter key (A8/1) is actuated. The convenience feature with the air recirculation switch (except vehicles as of model year 09 /YoM 08 with code (494) USA version or code (460) Canada version) closes/opens the tilting/ sliding roof by actuating the air recirculation switch (N22s2) on the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) (without code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning) or by actuating the air recirculation switch (N22/7s2) on the comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7) (with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning).

When closing with the convenience feature via Keyless Go (Code (889) Keyless Go) the tilting/sliding roof can be closed by longer actuating the left door handle switch (S17/19) or right door handle switch (S17/21).
Convenience opening via keyless go is not possible.
