Rubbing / Rattling Noise from Glove Compartment Lid

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding either a rubbing or rattling noise from the glove box lid, proceed as follows.

Model 203 / 209 Rubbing Noise
203 - Up to VIN A113578 or F083917

209 - Up to VIN F105129 or T024760








1. A rubbing noise may be the result of the glove box lid rubbing against the striker (Model 203 Figure 1, 1 / Model 209 Figure 2, arrow).

2. Lightly grease the striker (Model 203 Figure 1, 1 / Model 209 Figure 2, arrow) with Special sliding compound.

Model 203 / 209 Rattling Noise

203 - Up to VIN A114580 or F098332

209 - Applies to All

1. A rattling noise may be the result of insufficient preload for the glove compartment lid.

2. For Model 203 vehicles, increase preload of the glove compartment lid by adjusting the striker (Figure 1, 1), move the striker forward.





3. For Model 209 vehicles, increase preload of the glove compartment lid by adjusting the buffers (Figure 3, arrows).

NOTE:
For Model 209 vehicles equipped with a CD changer, insure the glove compartment lid does not contact the CD changer.
