GF91.60-P-2005Q Side Impact, Function
- up to 31.5.04

Component Identification:

Side impact, function
If the left sidebag and windowbag sensor (A53/1) or right sidebag and windowbag sensor (A54/1) detects a side impact collision, the relevant accident data are transmitted to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) checks the plausibility of the signal and if appropriate activates the squibs for the sidebag and the windowbag on the affected vehicle side:
^ If a side impact collision occurs on the left, the squibs for the left front sidebag (R12/20), the left windowbag (R12/22) and the left rear sidebag (R12/11) (with code (293), rear left and right sidebag) are simultaneously triggered.
^ If a side impact collision occurs on the right, the squibs for the right front sidebag (R12/21), the right windowbag (R12/23) and the right rear sidebag (R12/12) (with code (293), rear left and right sidebag) are simultaneously triggered.

The front passenger seat sidebag is only triggered if the front passenger seat belt buckle restraint system switch (S68/4) has been operated and the front passenger seat has been recognized as occupied by the front passenger seat occupancy/child seat recognition (B48).
