GF82.85-P-2010Q Cassette Mode, Function

15.03.07 The document has been updated to this date and will no longer be subject to revision.

The compact cassette player is integrated in the radio (A2). When the cassette is played it starts with the 1st track, the side which points upwards being defined as side 1. With this function a cassette symbol is shown in the display (not in telephone mode).

When the cassette is inserted the play function continues from the place that it last stopped.

Cassette input/output
If a cassette is pushed in beyond the removal position when the unit is switched on, it is drawn in automatically and adjusted to the defined cassette mode. The type of tape is detected automatically.

Pressing on the "Eject" button again will eject the cassette. The unit switches over to cassette mode.
The cassette drive is operated via the function keypad.

Stiff cassettes are automatically ejected; in this case the device automatically switches to radio operation. Tape breaks are not detected, since the intention is to allow cleaning cassettes to be used without problems.

Winding forwards and backwards
Winding forwards and backwards is triggered by pressing the relevant button.
^ Winding forwards, fast forward button at "top" of display "CC FF"
^ Rewinding, rewind button at "bottom" of display "CC REW"

When the end of the tape is reached, the track is changed and play mode is commenced. The winding process is continued when there is an incoming call. The cassette mode remains in pause status until the end of the telephone call.

The winding function is terminated by the following events:
^ Pressing on the track change button (the track is changed)
^ ON/OFF button
^ Press winding button in opposite direction
^ End of tape reached
^ Switch to another signal source
^ Switch to telephone operation

Track search
This function winds the cassette forwards and backwards until a music break is discovered and then switches automatically into playback mode.
The music search is triggered by pressing the winding button.

Search
The search is started by a long press of the winding button. Each piece of music is played for approx. 8 s. The display is as for "CC-winding", but the abbreviation "SC" is also displayed.

Empty detection function
When the drive does not detect a sound signal on the cassette for more than 15 seconds, fast forward to the next title takes place automatically. If a next title is not detected, it winds to the end of the tape and the track is changed and the search continued. If the function is active, the abbreviation "SB" appears in the display.

The process is terminated after the end of the tape has been reached for the 3rd time (empty cassette). The unit then switches back to radio mode and parks the cassette.

Pause function
The cassette drive is changed from play status to the pause status by the following events:
^ Traffic announcements
^ Incoming or outgoing calls via D2B
^ Muting

Playback takes place from the same place point at the end of the interruption.

Dolby B noise suppression is used for cassettes that were recorded using Dolby B.
