GF82.70-P-3000QA Dialing, Function

GF82.70-P-3000QA Dialing, Function
- with CODE (813) Voice control sytem (VCS)

Component Identification:

After activating the voice control system (VCS) by pulling the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) towards the driver, the user has several options for making the desired connection. The conditions for execution of the voice commands are:
^ No telephone numbers stored in the telephone book
^ Telephone numbers with associated names stored in the phone book

Function sequence, if no telephone numbers are stored in the telephone book
The user has the choice of the following voice commands for activating voice recognition:
^ "Dial telephone number"
^ "Dial number"

The user has the choice of the following voice commands for performing the voice commands above:
^ "Dial"
^ "Store"

Once the activation of the VCS has been completed by a voice command of the user the latter is requested by the VCS to enter a telephone number via the voice output "Please say the number". The input takes place with one of the following options:
^ As blocks of digits which are suitable for the input of long numbers (approx. 3 to 5 digits per block of digits, with approx. 0.5 seconds voice pause between the blocks of digits).
^ As digit chains (up to 5 digits, without voice pause) which are suitable for the input of short numbers.

On the individual vehicle models if the telephone number entered by voice, if equipped, is either displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the Instrument cluster (A1) or in the display of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
Should a fault have occurred with the entry of the desired telephone number, e.g. fault ID of a digit by the VCS [voice control system] or incorrect input by the user, then the user has the option of deleting or correcting the telephone number.

If the telephone number has been entered correctly and taken over correctly by the VCS in response to the user's voice command "Dial" the VCS voice output "The number is dialed" and the connection is made.
If, after the entry of the desired telephone number is complete, the user would like to have it permanently available, instead of the voice command "Dial" he must enter the voice command "Store". Thereupon the VCS requests the user to enter the desired name through the spoken announcement "Please say the name". If the name is entered by the user, the VCS demands that the name be repeated as confirmation. After this the telephone number and associated name are stored in the phone book with the voice output "Name and number are stored".

The entries stored in the telephone book can only be called up reliably by the users who store them.

Function sequence, if the telephone numbers with associated names are stored in the phone book
The user has the choice of the following voice commands for activating the voice recognition:
^ "Select name"
^ "Listen to phone book"

Here the user has 2 options for making the desired connection:
^ With the voice command "Dial name" he can call up a name already stored in the telephone book. Thereupon, the VCS requests that the user enters the desired name.
^ With the voice command "Listen to the telephone book" he can have the telephone book read aloud by the VCS in order to then operate the VCS switch at the desired names while the telephone book is being read aloud(S93/2). With this voice command it is also possible to "search" in the telephone book.

The voice command "Listen to the phone book" is also when the VCS has difficulties in recognizing a name desired by the user by voice input. The name can, if it is already in the phone book, be selected and the connection made in this way.
The user's voice command "Dial" is superfluous for the above mentioned dialing options. After the name is repeated by the VCS the connection is made, this is communicated to the user via the voice output "The number is dialed".
Should the desired telephone numbers not be available for the above dialing options (e.g. the desired connection is engaged), after the dialing process is terminated and the VCS has been reactivated, then it is possible for the user to again dial the telephone number last dialed using the voice command "Redial".

During the above-mentioned dialing options at any time it is possible to break off the dialogue with the VCS, by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) away from the driver or by the voice command "Abort".

Delete or correct digit chain/blocks of numbers during the telephone number input
If there is fault detection by the VCS or an incorrect input by the user, then the latter can correct the telephone number in one of the following 2 ways:
^ If the telephone number was entered as a sequence of blocks of numbers (3 to 5 digits per block, voice pause of 0.5 seconds between the individual blocks) then the telephone number can be changed via the voice command "Correct", "Correction" or "Correct the telephone/number". This means that the block of numbers entered last is deleted and the block of numbers entered previously is repeated by the VCS.
^ If the telephone number was entered as a digit chain (up to 5 digits, without voice pause) then the telephone number can only be changed via the voice command "Delete", "Delete number" or "Delete telephone number". This means that all the numbers entered previously are deleted. The VCS communicates this to the user via the voice output "The number is deleted, please speak" and requests the user to input additional digits or voice commands.

With both types of telephone number input the VCS reports, after the entry of more than 20 digits without a voice pause, via the voice output "The number is already too long" and requests the user to enter the telephone number mentioned as sequence of digit blocks. This then makes it possible to enter long telephone numbers as well.
If the user would like to listen to the previously entered digits once again as a check this is possible with the voice command "Redial".

As a result the VCS repeats all the digits entered up until then and requests the user to input further digits or voice commands with the voice output "and other".

It is also possible to establish international calls via the VCS. Furthermore the control of the announcement services and operation of the mailbox is feasible.

Help function
The VCS contains a help feature in order to be able to render its operation as simple as possible.
If the user is in dialogue with a component of the respective communication system fitted in the vehicle and delivers the voice command "Help", then the VCS reads aloud the most important voice commands of the component of the respective communication system fitted to the vehicle.

If the user is in dialogue with the radio component of the respective audio system fitted in the vehicle, then he can change the component with the voice command "Help, telephone" and in turn the VCS reads aloud to him the most important voice commands of the component of the respective communication system fitted in the vehicle.
