GF82.85-P-2006QN Switch On/Off Behavior, Function

GF82.85-P-2006QN Switch On/Off Behavior, Function
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Activation of overall system
Position 0 "key in ignition"
In order to ensure a quicker switch-on process, only the bus systems are activated for 3 minutes by inserting the transmitter key (A8/1) into the EIS (EZS) control unit (N73), position 0 (circuit 15C ON). If the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on using the "ON/OFF" button, the automatic shut-off takes place after 30 minutes.

Position 1 "radio position"
Turning the transmitter key (A8/1) to position 1 (circuit 15R ON), switches on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56), provided that it was on before the transmitter key (A8/1) was last removed. remains in operation until the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed again.

The function options are limited to:
^ Operation of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56)
^ Multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1)
^ Operation via multifunction steering wheel

Position 2 "ignition"
By turning the key further to position 2 (circuit 15 ON), all functions in the vehicle are rendered operational. The system which was active before it was last switched off (e.g. radio and navigation unit (A2/56)) is switched on and the corresponding basic menu is displayed.
If the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) was switched off for longer than 30 minutes, a warning menu containing general information on how to operate the system is displayed.

Position 3 "engine start"
In position "circuit 50 ON" the engine is started. If a considerable voltage drop occurs (U < 11.5 V) while the engine is being started, the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) switches off for the time it takes the start the engine. It switches on again after the on-board electrical system has stabilized.

Activating navigation
The navigation system is activated automatically via the class B (interior) controller area network bus (CAN-B) when the driver door is opened.
This process takes approximately 2 seconds. The display in the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) remains switched off. If, as a result of this, no status change occurs at the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) (e.g. circuit 15C ON or circuit 15R ON), the navigation system remains activated for 30 minutes.

Switch On/Off behavior using rotary switch
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) can also be switched on when circuit 15C is on using the rotary switch

All functions of the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) are then available for 30 minutes. The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) switches off automatically when 30 minutes has elapsed. Following deactivation, the user can switch on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) again using the rotary switch. The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched off again after 30 minutes.

Switch On/Off behavior with telephone call or SMS
The Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1) is activated by the MOST if a telephone call or SMS is received during the run-on phase. In this case a waking pulse is sent. All components associated with MOST are then operational. The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched off either using the rotary switch or when circuit 15C is on. An active phone call is not interrupted if the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed. MOST switches itself off when the driver removes the transmitter key (A8/1).

Conduct of radio and navigation unit (A2/56) with battery voltage less than 11.5 V
If the battery voltage drops below 11.5 V, a message appears on the multifunction display (A1p13) and requests that the engine be started. If the engine is not started, then a further warning on the multifunction display (A1p13) appears 3 minutes later before the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) switches off. Starting the engine in this case prevents the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) from switching off automatically. If the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) has shut off and the battery voltage increases to more than 11.5 V, the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) does not switch itself on again.

The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) can, however, be switched on again manually. The warning procedure then ensues for as long as the fault is not eliminated.

Conduct of radio and navigation unit (A2/56) with battery voltage less than 9.5 V
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is automatically set to a defined standby condition in which only battery monitoring takes place. A data backup of the current operating condition of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is also saved. The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) cannot be operated or accessed using STAR DIAGNOSIS in this condition. All communication with external components is stopped.
