Cell Phone - Extremely Loud DTMF Tones

Extremely Loud DTMF Tones

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles where the DTMF (keypad) tones are extremely loud while dialing a phone number, prior to replacing any parts, please check the software version of the COMAND by following the below procedure.

Step 1 - Check software version of COMAND

a. Connect SDS

b. Select "Control units"

c. Select "Information and communication"

d. Select "Audio, video, navigation and Telematics"

e. Select "COMAND/Audio"

f. Select "Control unit version"

g. If the value of "Software status" is 46/03 or earlier, then the COMAND software needs to be updated per the below procedure.

h. If the value of "Software status" is later than 46/03, please contact the Technical Assistance Center for further diagnosis.

Note:
The update requires DAS 08/2004 or later and both of the following CDs:

SDFlash Release CD (004488102/0006 or later) - install in the SDS CD drive

SDFlash Telematics Release CD (211 827 79 59) - installed in the COMAND CD drive

Step 2 - Update COMAND:

a. Insert SDflash Release CD into SDS CD drive

b. Select "Control units"

C. Select "Information and communication"

d. Select "Audio, video, navigation and Telematics"

e. Select COMAND/COMAND Japan"

f. Select "Initial start-up"

g. Select "Control unit programming"

h. Select SDflash Release CD

i. If newer software is found for COMAND, then prompt will instruct to load SDflash Telematics CD into COMAND's CD drive

j. Follow prompts from SDS

k. Clear fault memory after successful programming

L. Disconnect SDS

m. Allow MOST Ring to shut down by turning engine OFF and sit for 120 seconds.

After updating the COMAND, please check the software status version by following the procedure outlined in Step 1: Check software version of COMAND. The software status should now be 17/04.

Note:
After completed software update, COMAND may not show "Diagnosis" and in order to check software version it may be necessary enter the "Audio, video, navigation and Telematics" menu and select COMAND again. Otherwise, STAR DIAGNOSIS might report COMMUNICATION ERROR".
