Test and Adjustment Jobs
Test, Adjust Idle Speed, Emission Value/lambda Control (ME-SFI)
Remove/install
DANGER:
- Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
- Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
- Hazard from touching parts which conduct high voltages
- Do not touch parts carrying high voltages.
Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) must not carry out work on the ignition system.
1 Remove O2-sensor upstream of TWC
- O2 sensor at exhaust pipe/exhaust manifold = 55 Nm
NOTE: Measure idle speed emission value on left or right at exhaust system upstream of catalytic converter.
2 Install exhaust measuring connection (035)
CAUTION: Coat thread with heat-resistant lubricant.
3 Connect CO gauge (006)
5 Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS (0100)
Testing
6.1 Check throttle control
NOTE:
- Model 129, 163, 202, 208, 210: Check if the relay lever sit close to the closed throttle stop of the pedal value sensor. In the event of a complaint:
- Adjust throttle control
6.2 Check idle speed and full throttle stop at pedal value sensor (B37)
7 Test idle speed, set
Idling speed - Selector lever position "P"/"N", engine oil temperature approx. 80 degrees C
Engine 112 ME-SFI 2.0 without TWC = 650-800 rpm
Engine 113 ME-SFI 2.0 without TWC = 600-750 rpm
Engine: Idling
Selector lever position: P
AC compressor: OFF
Engine oil temperature: approx. 80 degrees C
8 Check and adjust idle emission value
Idle emission value 1.0 ± 0.5 %CO
Engine: Idle
Selector lever position: P
AC compressor: OFF
Engine oil temperature: approx. 80 degrees C
9 Check engine running
Parking brake: Operate
Engine: Idle
Selector lever position: D
all consumers: ON
Engine must run properly
10 Install in the reverse order
