Wiper System Automatic Speed Reduction, Function
Wiper System Automatic Speed Reduction, Function
The automatic speed reduction feature acts on the following functions:
- Wiping in stage 1
- Wiping in stage 2
If the driving speed is ≤ 5 km/h, the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) switches the wiper motor (M6/1) from this function back to intermittent wiping. The intermittent pause is controlled by the rain sensor (B38).
NOTE: The speed signal required for speed reduction is sent to the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) by the instrument cluster (A1) via the passenger compartment CAN bus.
Switching back to selected wiper stage
- If the value of ≥ 8 km/h is reached at increasing vehicle speed, the driver side SAM control module (N10/10) automatically switches the wiper motor (M6/1) back to wiper stage 1 or 2 as set on the combination switch (S4).
- The speed reduction heater can be overwritten for all desired functions by manually actuating the combination switch (S4) again. When the vehicle speed decreases below this threshold, the speed reduction feature again becomes active.
