ESP control unit, Task

The ESP control unit (N47-5) administers all brake-control functions related to ABS, BAS, ASR, DTR and ESP through the SBC control unit (A7/3n1), and by the SBC control units on the 240 model series (A7/3n1, A7/4n1), by transmitting data through a dedicated CAN.

Data communications for operation of ASR and ESP are expedited through a dedicated CAN data loop dsigned to support data communications between the control units for engine management and transmission control.

Influence of engine/transmission management in ESP control mode.

The ESP control unit also includes the electronic circuitry and control logic for the parameter steering (PML).

Supplies other systems with the speed signal and interface (left front signal only) or through the CAN.

Supplies the instrument cluster with signals for the multifunction displays (A1p13, A1p15) through the CAN.

Supplies the instrument cluster with signals for the ABS indicator lamp (A1e17) and the ESP and ABS warning lamps (A1e41) through the CAN

Relays the brake light signal to the rear SAM control unit to trigger the brake lights or suppresses this signal during active ESP regulation.
