General information
The Active Service System is operated using the instrument cluster (A1) reset button, which is on the center of the instrument cluster (A1), and using the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) and the system selection button (S110s3) on the multifunction steering wheel.

Service indicator can be called up by driver
- Starter switch in position "1", "2" or in service mode.
- Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the left multifunction display (A1p13) shows the basic display (main and trip odometer reading). (Only necessary where the default image is not displayed.)
- Press scroll forward/back button (S110s1) until the service symbol appears in the left multifunction display (A1p13) and the current remaining distance, the remaining time or the service exceeded display appears in the right multifunction display (A1p15).

Display engine-oil level
- Turn ignition-and-starter switch to position "2"
- Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the left multifunction display (A1p13) shows the basic display (main and trip odometer reading). (Only necessary where the default image is not displayed.)
- Press scroll forward/back button (S110s1) until the oil can symbol appears in the left multifunction display (A1p13) and the message "CORRECT MEASUREMENT ONLY IF VEHICLE IS ON A LEVEL SURFACE" appears in the right multifunction display (A1p15) .
- If vehicle is not level: cancel measurement by pressing the scroll forward/back button again within 3 s.
- If the measurement is not canceled, after approx. 3 s the message "ENGINE OIL LEVEL MEASUREMENT IN PROGRESS" appears in the right multifunction display (A1p15) and then the current oil level message. If the vehicle is not on level ground during a measurement, faulty measurements may occur.

Resetting the ASSYST after an oil change (oil change reset)

Reset ASSYST (oil change reset) only after changing the oil! Where possible the oil change reset should be conducted with the aid of the Star Diagnosis tool.

- Move starter switch to position "1".
- Press the system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until the left multifunction display (A1p13) shows the basic display (main and trip odometer reading). (Only necessary where the default image is not displayed.)
- Press the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) repeatedly until the service symbol and the current remaining distance, the remaining time or the service interval exceeded is displayed.
- Press the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1) for approximately 3 seconds until the right multifunction display (A1p15) displays

"RESET SERVICE INTERVAL?CONFIRM WITH THE R-BUTTON".

- Press the reset button on the instrument cluster (A1) within 5 s.
- The right multifunction display (A1p15) displays the text "SERVICE INTERVAL HAS BEEN RESET" and then the current "Remaining distance" of 15,000 kilometers or 10,000 miles.

An inadvertently performed oil change reset can only be revoked using the Star Diagnosis tool.
