Function
The left and right defroster vent flap actuator motors (M16/13) and (M16/14) are controlled via the A/C databus by the AAC pushbutton control module (N22) and thus actuate the defroster vent flaps, which assume the following positions to match different requirements:

Defrost function
Defroster nozzle flap open 100 %.
REST function
Defroster vent flap open 50 %.
System switched off
Defroster vent flap open 100 %. (This limp-home capability ensures that the windshield and the side windows will not fog up even when a malfunction has occurred

Automatic flap regulation (AUTO buttons retracted)
The defroster vent flaps are opened depending on the following values

^ Blending air flap setting
^ Coolant temperature
^ Evaporator temperature
^ Relative humidity

linear up to 100 % open.

Defroster vent flap control using the AAC pushbutton control module (N22)

NOTE:
- All actuators are identical.
- The assignment to the flap to be actuated and job description of actuator takes place via a wiring harness coupling.

If a problem exists, it is possible to retrieve and verify the defined end positions by means of the diagnosis system STAR DIAGNOSIS (valuation trip).
An adjustment run must be performed after replacing a positioning motor, in other words the end positions flap OPEN and SHUT are defined and retained.
